Biggest Loser, Anyone?

Something exciting is taking place in our office. We have officially started our "Biggest Loser" contest last Friday with the weighing in of the participants. The idea of launching this contest came about while we were having lunch in the pantry one time.

You see, there are only three employees in our bureau who are within the ideal weight. One is Tita Elvie, the other division's assistant chief, who is actually underweight based on her height. The next one is Aye, the ex-seminarian who is good at computer graphics, and the other one is me, who by virtue of being a diabetic is required to maintain an ideal weight. The rest in our unit, including our Alternate Officer-in-Charge, is on the other side of the weighing scale with their excess fats in varying degrees.

So, to encourage them to put some efforts at shedding off their adipose tissue, I initiated the contest, which is patterned after a foreign reality TV show of the same title. Our adaptation, though, has two variations. First, we are doing it by pair. Selection of teammates is done through draw lots. But, this is the twist, the partners will only get to know each other once they are eliminated or become the winners. Only the weigh master, that's me, knows who the pairs are. The idea is for each individual to put some efforts at reducing some weight because the partner who loses the biggest amount of weight shall take home the cash prize. How much? Secret. Else, the Bureau of Internal Revenue will run after them.

Second, each partner should combinedly lose a minimum of 5 lbs. every week and half of their total excess weight by November 26 to stay on the game.

To make it more exciting, I shall announce every Friday, after the weekly weighing in, the amount of weight already lost by all the pairs with me mentioning the name of only one of the two members. For instance, I will say that Kim, one of the contestants, and his partner have already lost this amount of excess fats. Everyone else will be guessing who is Kim's partner since I won't be naming him or her.

So come Friday, we shall know who will be leading and who will be trailing behind. Will there be pairs eliminated? Let us see.
